Are the ‘daily deals’ too good to be true?

Wednesday 23rd June

Since we launched chiconomise, we’ve had heaps of you asking whether the ‘Daily Chic’ deals work. We understand this because let’s face it, often they sound too good to be true.

Group buying (or daily deals as we call it) has been around for ages in the States. It’s a fairly new concept here so we thought it would be wise to give you guys a very quick heads up re who’s who. Here is a quick snapshot of the companies we list on our lovely site in the daily chic section (and sometimes in latest deals if they are really good):

MyCityDeal: These guys have recently merged with a company called Groupon, they are huge!

Wahanda: Fab company who have been financially backed by the founders of lastminute.com

KGB Deals: Owned by the 118 group

Groupola: Owned by a well known internet entrepreneur.

We have personally bought heaps of deals from these companies so can confirm that indeed, they ‘do what they say on the tin’.  As it happens, we had a team night out last night courtesy of a deal we bought for £12 rather than £45 from mycitydeal.

There are some other daily deal sites out there but often the smaller ones are less reliable, so we tend to stay away from them.

The deals on these sites typically last just one day so you need to be quick.  They also change by city so make sure you select your city from the sites drop-down.  If your city is not listed on our daily chic box, no worries, just select any city and then choose yours from there.

Our goal with chiconomise is to round up the very best deals into one central place so you can see who is doing what without trawling through 101 sites and reading a thousand emails.  We’ll do all the hard work, leaving you to get on with the fun bits.

If you ever have any concerns, ping us a comment or drop us a line.  Otherwise, go shop and go have fun. We’d love to hear what fantastic deals you’ve bagged through us so remember to share the love in our forum, facebook page or our twitter.

PS. If you want a bit more info, check out the news article about this very subject on our news page.
