Markets Galore
What a fab weekend I’ve just had. The weather was scorching and everyone seemed just that little bit more relaxed.
I spent my Saturday at a village fair after accidentally stumbling across it. It was so much fun, all the traditional stuff we all used to do and love but somehow we seem to have lost. There was a tug-of-war, fun runs, dog shows, lucky dips and hook-a-ducks. There was also a ’smash the crockery’ stall where you threw balls at a huge stack of plates, jugs and heaps more. Perfect for getting the anger out. I had a good go, but after managing to just hit the promotion board (which was less than one metre away from me) and narrowly missing the stall holder, I thought it was probably best that I stepped away gracefully and left the anger display to someone else.
On Sunday I decided to have a little stroll around my neighbourhood. We managed to come across an unbelievable market that I never even knew existed (I’ve lived in my home for six years). The market sold absolutely everything and food? It had every cuisine you could possibly desire from Brazilian to British and Jamaican to Japanese.
I managed to bag myself a bang on trend maxi-dress for the barganista price of just £10. I got it home and it fits like a glove and makes me feel super sexy. I love the fact that I can wear it safe in the knowledge that not everyone will have the same outfit on as me (high street anyone?) and knowing that I saved myself a small fortune.
It got me thinking. We bring you all the very best high street and online deals but have never focused on markets. If I can miss out on a gem of a market which is on my doorstep, then how many more gems like this exist in the UK? One of our chiconomistas has gone to work this morning to discover all the very best markets out there and will be reporting back soon. Stay tuned and in the meantime, if you have a market you can’t live without, drop us a line at [email protected] and we’ll share the love.
