The Sweet Scent of Oil Burners

10-08-2010
10 The Body Shop   1 Poundland

While we wish it was summer all year long, at least we can keep the scents that remind us of it with oil burners. They are a perfect way to freshen up your home after cooking. Or you could use them during a warm bath to create the smell of a lovely tropical oasis— especially when the weather is less than lovely. So come more rain and less shine, pour a few drops of your fave oil and burn some time until summer comes again.

The Body Shop’s Soapstone Oil Burner, £10, comes in natural colour that suits almost any décor. Plus, it’s so easy to clean and is the clutter-free solution to multiple candles. The budget burner, Poundland’s Coley and Gill Oil Burner Soapstone comes in a darker hue and is only £1. At that price, you can buy one for each room without burning a hole in your wallet. Once you pick your burner, sniff out some scents from the collection of home fragrance oils, £3.50, at The Body Shop.  As for tea lights (we really do think of everything), you can buy 100 of them for just £2 at John Lewis, both in store and online.

Posietint (£23.50), Benetint’s pinkier cousin, pinches our cheeks with a lovely poppy tint that perks our faces right up, even in the morning when we are feeling less than perky. But if you are looking for a natural flush for a lot less, tint to your heart’s content with Me Me Me Cosmetics’ Poppy Tint- Cheek & Lip Tint, £4.99.  If you haven’t tried it, think of the natural flush you get on your cheeks 15 minutes into your workout. Yes, natural beauty can come in a bottle—or for £4.99, maybe even two.

Go light with SPF wipes!

14-07-2010
16.95 Dermalogica Solar Defence Wipes SPF 15   8.95 Shady Day Sun Protection Wipes SPF 30

Summer is supposed to be mean fun, right?  But with all the warnings about the dangers of the sun, it means doing a chore we would all love to ignore: wearing SPF lotion everyday.  Skip its greasy, chalky and downright icky feeling and go light with beauty’s much-raved-about SPF wipes.  they are a take-anywhere sunscreen solution for the face and body and for the prices we found, you can afford to take as many SPF wipes as you like.

We are mad about Dermalogica products and when they came out with their Solar Defence Wipes SPF 15 (£16.95 for 15 wipes) a few years ago, our resident beauty addicts never forgot to put it on because it was so refreshing.

But if you are looking for a higher factor sunscreen wipe at a lower price, try Shady Day Sun Protection Wipes SPF 30 (£8.95 for 15 wipes).  They are travel friendly too, so that means you can pack more fun necessities like shoes.
